The Boston area Liberation Health Group meets on a monthly basis to talk about incorporating ideas of liberation health and liberation psychology into our work as health care providers, social workers, psychologists, and community organizers. The group has three major components:

  1. To act as a support group for those individuals working to bring social justice issues into their work with clients.
  2. To act as a peer supervision and education groups for individuals practicing the methods of liberation health in their work.
  3. To act politically in the communities in which we live and work, and stand in solidarity with other organizations working for social justice locally, nationally, and internationally.

The format of meetings alternates between peer education and study of liberation health readings (see the Articles section for some examples), and featured guest speakers (see News/Events for a list of upcoming guest speakers). Meetings also include an informal pot luck dinner, with assignments listed below:

Last names A-G can bring deserts and drinks,

Last names H – N can bring a main course and

Last names O – Z can bring salads and appetizers.
